Skyline Panamá City

exploring Panama's old town for investors

In 1997 we visited Panama for the first time. Its old town did not look as prosperous as it does today. Many properties were in poor condition and inhabited by families who simply occupied them because they were homeless.

declared as a "world heritage site

Just in the year of our first visit, Panama's old town was declared a World Heritage Site.

In the years since, it has become a hub of social life. Many of its houses and palaces have been converted into bars, theaters, stores and hotels.

Bob House, among others

Our client had plans to open a boutique hotel. We scoured the entire old town, along with our local partners - looking for no less than seven opportunities.

One of the homes was the one in these photos, Casa Bob.

We are independent of any agency - we make a complete view of properties that match your definition.

impressive development

Maybe it was only a few people who bet on the development of this area at the end of the nineties. Even people warned not to visit it at night. Nevertheless, Panama has changed constantly. Every year new projects appeared and new businesses were opened.

the same corner today and before

One example is this small but historic wooden house.

As it was declared a heritage site it was rebuilt.

The photo below shows it 14 years ago while the one on the side is now.

what used to cost 50

is now worth a thousand

Since we have been able to observe the real estate market, we have noticed that houses that were offered for $50,000 are now sold for $500,000, even without renovation, and if it is renovated, they are sold for double or even triple the price.

American Trade Hotel

An excellent example is the American Trade Hotel & Hall - it became one of the most beautiful hotels in Casco Viejo.

Before / after photos.

Already the old town offers a lot of security for investment. The prices are not what they used to be, but there are still some properties that represent good opportunities. We will be pleased to advise you.
